Fabric: 

(5) 6” X 9” rectangles (Back)

(5) 6” X 9” batting rectangles

(25) 2¼” X 6” rectangles (Front- Variety of Fabrics Suggested)

Other Supplies-

(5) Star Buttons (Optional)

Ribbon Approximates 40”

Christmas Tree Template (Available for Download)

Heat or Water Erasable Fabric Marker

Pinking Shears

Basic Instructions:

  • Before beginning, please read through all the directions. 
  • RST means Right Sides Together.
  • WST means Wrong Sides Together.
  • All seam allowances are ¼”.

Steps: 

  • Layout (5) 2 ¼ X 6 rectangle to make a strip set from top to bottom labeled A-E. 
  • To make a strip set, stitch (1) 2¼” X 6” Fabric A strip to (1) 2¼” X 6” Fabric B, RST. Stitch Fabric B strip to (1) 2¼” X 6” Fabric C strip, RST. Stitch Fabric C strip to (1) 2¼” X 6” Fabric D strip, RST. Stitch Fabric D strip to (1) 2¼” X 6” Fabric E strip, RST. Press all seams in the same direction. 
  • Using the Christmas tree template, trace the Christmas tree onto the front side of the strip set using an erasable fabric marker.

  • With (1) 6” X 9” rectangle, place the right side facing down. Layer it with (1) 6” X 9” batting rectangle and (1) strip set, right side facing up to make a mini quilt sandwich. Pin in place. 
  • Stitch directly on the traced Christmas tree lines. 
  • Using pinking shears, cut ¼” from the seam line.  
  • Repeat steps 1-6, (4) times to complete a total of 5 Christmas trees. 
  • Evenly lay the Christmas trees along the ribbon. Stitch Christmas trees to the ribbon. Optional: Hand stitch star buttons to the trees.
