This one looks complicated… but I promise it doesn’t have to be! ⭐

For Block 9 of History Repeats Itself, I’m sharing a simple technique inspired by Eleanor Burns that makes this Eight-Pointed Star surprisingly easy to piece.

✨ No Y-seams
✨ No triangles
✨ No cutting on the diagonal
✨ Just squares + rectangles!

The result is a traditional-looking star without all the fear that can come with those sharp points. And yes, this method does leave you with a little extra fabric—but I think the simplicity is completely worth it!

Three simple ways to add more interest to your qui

Three simple ways to add more interest to your quilt! ✨

One of my favorite things about seeing my pattern testers’ quilts is seeing the little design choices they make that I might not have thought of myself.

🌸 Mix your fabric types. Try combining quilting cottons with wovens to add texture and visual interest.

🌸 Mix your low volumes. Instead of using just one background fabric, try using a variety of low-volume prints that work well together. It adds so much depth!

🌿 Play with color variation. Rather than using just one shade of a color, try incorporating several shades. The different greens in this Garden Daydream quilt really help bring the leaves to life.

Same pattern. Completely different quilts. And I love that! ❤️
